...would smell so sweet. Nothing like a tweaked line from Romeo and Juliet to peak your curiosity. Noah wanted to give some fun bars of soap to his close friends this year so I made the soap up today to give it plenty of time to cure. Now, a kid just is NOT going to appreciate an oatmeal vanilla or ginger lime or patchouli & spiced pear (the other kind I made today!) scented soap, but don't worry, I found the perfect scent! If you need to know NOW...scroll to the last picture. Soap making is relatively simple once you have all the supplies and the hardest part for me is picking what scents to try. The Patchouli & Spiced Pear seems to be a winner and I can't wait to try it out. If you ever feel like giving soap making a try feel free to email me or even stop by and we'll whip up a batch together! A few pictures from today's soap making session:
Basic 4 oil recipe warming a bit in the pan.
A stick blender is a soap makers friend...trust me!
This is not too long after I added the lye/water mixture to the oils. It's starting to thicken up and reach trace which is when you add your scents and any other things you want to add.
In goes the fun scent I found!
In the mold, already setting up. I will be able to take it out of the mold tomorrow and cut it up to finish curing.
All right, no more waiting, this is what the kids will give to their friends this year. How many kids do you know that will be able to keep a straight face when they realize they have been given a soap scented with this? I doubt Noah will be able to keep a straight face handing them out!

Tiff,
I love it, and I really can't wait to make some with you. I need to come back for a visit in the New Year, if you're up for a trainee:)

Okay, seriously. What does it REALLY smell like?
I guess a description would have been a good idea! Here is what the manufacturer's description says, "a unique blend of bananas, fresh grapefruit, with strawberries, kiwi, bubble gum and a touch of vanilla," and I have to agree!
Ah, the explanation really helps! Doesn't sound half bad...but I'm sure the kids will really appreciate the name. How fun! And what 8 year old thinks of giving his friends soap as a present...Noah, you are one of a kind! And that is fantastic as far as Grandma is concerned...what a great idea you had!
well we have 2 kids that would enjoy some monkey farts soap thankyouverymuch!!
Hilarious Tiff! Relieved when I read the description tho. How creative :-)
Too funny! What a great idea!
