Holiday Express Train

I am going to try something new. We went on the Holiday Express Train yesterday and we all had a lot of fun. We took a ton of pictures and blogger has a new feature, with flickr.com, that allows me to put a slide show together and run it in one of the side columns on our blog. I will upload the photos and allow the slide show to run until January 2008.

We had so much fun on the train! Noah loves trains, always has and even though the trip is only 40 minutes long, the boys loved it. The train was decorated in lights, garland, ornaments and overall holiday cheer. This was Oliver's first train ride. He was so excited when he saw the big train and must have said, "choo-choo!" a couple dozen times before we even got on board. He really didn't like the idea of sitting still however, and used the chairs and aisle way as his own personal jungle gym. He did stop long enough to say hi to Santa and get a candy cane but that was about it. Noah sat quietly the whole time looking out the window and enjoying the ride.

The train ride went from Oaks Amusement Park (Sellwood Bridge) to OMSI and back. In one of the pictures of Noah you can actually see him looking at the church Joel and I got married in. The train had quite a few cars and we were 4 of the 230 sold tickets for that ride. We did end up on a car with fewer people though because of the seats so that was nice. This is a fundraiser that they do each year. They need to build a new home for the big steam engines so they are raising the funds to buy the land, build the train house, etc. If they don't then the trains will go somewhere else. They also use some of the money to refurbish the old engines. They are so big and so amazing up close like that.

I saw the photo of Noah looking at the church. Had you not said what it was he was looking at I wouldn't have noticed that it was that building. It's such a beautiful church...very cool!
